Search for Intelligent Life Intensifies

If you want to be in on the discovery of life on other planets the place to be is Australia. The world’s most powerful telescope was officially opened there this week.

Sited in Murchison, Western Australia, the Square Kilometre Array Pathfinder has already been booked out for the first five years of its use. One of those tasks is to search for extra-terrestrial life.

In time, its 36 dishes will be joined by 60 more across Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, generating phenomenal amounts of information about the universe.

Dr. Brian Boyle, director of the CSIRO project said, ”I think many people believed we couldn’t do it. But I think we have now demonstrated to the rest of the world that we can.”
